SUCCESS AT THE ATLANTA CUPMount Pleasant Soccer Club had two teams make the finals at the Atlanta Cup held over Labor Day weekend in Atlanta, GA. The 91 Boys Elite won the championship match 3-1 vs. KFC Crush and the 96 Girls Elite won the championship match 2-0 vs. Ambush.
The 91 Boys Elite played in the U17 A division. The team scored 9 goals over the weekend and only allowed 3 goals. They beat HFC 92 Hurricanes, BUSA 92 Elite, CFC Redstar and Lexington United on their way to the championship. The team Co-captains are Alex Nutley and Brandon Costa. The Tournament MVP was Dustin Bailey, goal keeper for the team. Members of the 91 Boys Elite team include, Dustin Bailey, Chance Baker, Daniel Bybee, Shane Devereux, Kyle Henning, Daniel Kendra, Kyle Kirkman, James Kurtz, Matthew Lamb, Alex McKellar, Andrew McKellar, James Ngoyi, Alex Nutley, Jarrel Smalls, Jeff Wilkins and Brandon Costa. The 91 Boys Elite team is coached by Shilo Tisdale and John Devereux.
The 96 Girls Elite played in the U13 B division. The team scored 14 goals over the weekend and only allowed 5 goals. They beat Atlanta Fire 96 Gold, RYSA Blue, Sunrise Sting, and the Ambush. The girls achieved this result while playing up against opponents a year older. Team members include, Raymara Barreto, Julia Barrington, Grace Bishop, Becca Bosch, Sarah Carlton, Caroline Carter, Alaina Cherry, Jessica Dooley, Emma Gallagher, Katie Leen, Kitta Smith, Ansley Thomson, Hannah Walters, Gracie Weil, and Miranda Weslake. The team is coached by Paul Conway and Sydney Strong. |
